Couplex results

Introduction

The Couplex scientific committee, composed of A. Bourgeat (Chair, U. Lyon 1), J. Jaffré (INRIA), M. Kern (INRIA), O. Pironneau (U. Paris 6), S. Schumacher (Andra), J. Talandier (Andra), has examined the contributions to the Couplex 2 and 3 last test cases.
Four teams have sent a contribution:

  • Acri, Sophia-Antipolis, France (Ch. Raffourt and S. Lanteri)
  • IMFS, Strasbourg, France (H. Hoteit, Ph. Ackerer, R. Mosé)
  • TICAM, UT Austin, USA (T. Arbogast, S. Bryant, G. Phillips)
  • IWR, Heidelberg, Germany (P. Bastian, S. Lang)

It must be stressed that these were very difficult problems, that needed specific analysis, and required adaptation of most of the codes. Even the specialized codes couldn't solve the problems without needing specific developments. The 3D geometry, the nonlinearities and the physics were some of the difficulties that had to be dealt with.

The IMFS group presented interesting results for Couplex 3, and the Committee particularly appreciated the analysis, both physical and numerical, that went into the contribution of that group.

Andra and the Scientific Committee thank all the teams that entered the contest for the hard work they put in trying to simulate the proposed model. Their efforts made the Couplex exercise a success.
